A twitching, giggling insomniac ascends from his laboratory. All day, he has frightened students with his strange experiments and caffeine-induced muscle spasms. During his aimless walk along the dark canals of Amsterdam, he occasionally pauses at a dimly lit bridge to jot down ideas about the afterlife.
